Amtrak #6 Meets #5 with Heritage Unit in Snowy Night

On the evening of February 24, 2017, snow is falling on Agency, Iowa as the westbound "California Zephyr" comes into the town. As Amtrak #5 approaches, the radio scanner picks up the engineer of Amtrak #6 telling the BNSF dispatcher their times in and out of the station in Ottumwa. That eastbound "California Zephyr" then speeds through Agency and passes right before the westbound reaches the camera. It's slowing down because a freight train stopped in front of it for #6 to do its station work. #6 left Ottumwa nine hours and eighteen minutes late. It was heavily delayed in Nevada from the fallout of floods damaging the tracks there. #5 on the other hand is running about one minute late at this point, but it is losing some time by going slow. #6 was filmed earlier today near Omaha, Nebraska by YouTuber Sir Night Photography:    • Amtrak LaVista 2 24 17  .
