Contractor’s Perspective: Why L&S Earthworx Opted for Mecalac’s MWR Wheeled Excavator

France-based manufacturer Mecalac has only had a presence in the U.S. since 2016, so its likely you may not have come across one of its unique multi-purpose excavators on a jobsite. The company’s MWR range of wheel excavators use a lower positioned cab and combines “the stability of a crawler excavator and the mobility of a backhoe loader.” Jordanne Waldschmidt, chief editor of Equipment World, caught up with Luke Parmenter, the owner of L&S Earthworx, Ellensburg, Washington, at the recent Mecalac media event in Denver. Parmenter has owned a 9MWR for a year and a half, using it for work on apartment and condo complexes with overhangs, decks and tight spaces that must be maneuvered around. “It can pretty much do two jobs at once,” he says. “It can transfer materials in the skid bucket, as well as be an excavator.
