The beginning of this season has been very hectic for me. Definitely not a good transition between Master C into master B. Work has picked up considerably, so my schedule made my training almost non-existant and made me miss two races already, On top of that, I hurt my back again during the practice lap at Mondon Hill two weeks ago, making me unable to do that race either. I was going into this race with not much expectations and very limited goals, racing on 3h of sleep (work schedule again) but since that was not enough, I got bit by a fire ant (to which I’m allergic) resulting of my leg looking like a tree trunk, I could barely fit in my boot. But despite all of this, I had a great race and I’m very happy with the result. I took a very average start and could not get into the rhythm before the 3rd mile, so lots of riders passed me a the beginning. I slowly made my way up and it’s only by the end of lap 1 / beginning of lap 2 that I woke up and was able to get into a good pace, Unfortunately I did not manage well that part as I was keeping some energy for a potential 3rd lap, I did not know I was far from making the cut for it As the screen was off at the end of first lap, I didn’t know how I was placed / how much time a lap, So I did not push during the second lap, as I should have. I still made my way from 16th by the end of first lap to 11th at the end, considering I crashed a few miles before the finish line, 4 riders passed me again. If I had not crashed I would have made it to the top 10, which was my goal for this season, so I’m happy with that. Finishing 11th feels like a podium to me, considering all the odds against me, so I feel pretty good about it. Now I just need that leg to come back to a normal size. See you all in Indiantown. F.
