Muster is a unique Texas A&M tradition that unites Aggies of the past with Aggies of the present. It is Texas A&M’s most solemn tradition. During the World Wars, the tradition of meeting on April 21st included a memoriam for those who were absent. The first campus Muster was held in 1924, and has been held on campus ever since. At each Muster ceremony, a speaker addresses the crowd before the “Roll Call for the Absent.” They then read the names of those who have died in the past year, as each name is called, family and friends will answer “Here” to show that the Aggie is present in spirit.
