Hi Everyone! My name is Dan, and I am a veterinarian. Suturing and stitching up dogs and cats is a very common procedure for me as a veterinarian. I stitch up dogs and cats for trauma to closing surgical incisions. I suture up at least one dog or cat a day, and most days I am closing up three or four a day. There are a number of different sutures patterns that a veterinarian may completed. In today's video I show the following sutures patterns: Simple interrupted, cruciate, vertical mattress and a simple continuous. There are more sutures patterns than these. All these suture patterns have their place with regarding to closing up different types of wounds or surgical sites. In this video I use a banana to act like dog or cat skin. This allows for you guys to easily see how the skin will be closed up by the different surgical patterns. Disclaimer: This video is only for entertainment only. If your pet is sick, go see your veterinarian. This video does not replace veterinary care.
