Our virtual Lege Chat discussed harmful preemption legislation that would impose state control over municipal affairs. These bills would impact nearly every part of local governance by restricting local control, and we’re especially concerned about the erosion of important protections surrounding payday lending ordinances and eviction moratoriums that could result if these bills are passed.
