CSUDH Tribute: America Happens Here A musical and visual narrative of CSUDH and its legacy (See Description Below for Program Notes) Inspired by an original musical composition written for Dominguez Hills titled, "The Sky Below" by Bronson Buskett, this tribute video visually celebrates all that California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) has furnished its surrounding communities with for the past fifty-four years. As a university with historical and cultural affluence, "CSUDH Tribute: America Happens Here" highlights the elements that makes CSUDH a vehicle for progression and advancement; illustrating the euphony of higher education, community, diversity, and opportunity. 0:00- The work opens with a serene, morning-like quality that depicts CSUDH as the dawn of many youthful and promising minds. 0:33- Culminating to an eruption of color, a frolicing exposition delivers a playful dialogue between all instruments of the orchestra. This captures the very 'melting pot' quality so characteristic of CSU Dominguez Hills. 1:00- The first theme is then introduced in the flutes with a galloping motive that evokes a free-spirited ethos, arousing images of a pastoral escape. 1:30- After a cadential twist, a splitting fanfare resounds as an ovation for the triumphant character found in the hearts of CSUDH graduates. 1:46- A sharp tonal turn is made as a choir accompanies a fluttering harp, capturing a highly emotive and nostalgic moment of reflection on CSUDH and its history. 2:02- The sound of thunderous tribal percussion enters the landscape; symbolic of the multicultural presence within DH, and more specifically, the Native American origins of where Dominguez Hills is plotted. 2:22- Howls of a siren-like voice are heard wailing beyond the horizon with an aerial quality. This passage recalls the Dominguez Hills Aviation Meet of 1910. 2:38- A curious pizzicato melodic figure dances in the strings, seizing the kindred spirits of all CSUDH artists before leading into a bellicose athletic theme. 3:20- The final passage with its sustained soprano voice solo gives a soaring quality, and epitomizes what CSUDH personally means to me: transcendency transcendency in ambition and fruition, to see the sky below... thank you CSUDH for giving me a world I once never knew -Bronson Buskett Video and Music Composed/Produced by Bronson Buskett
