Veteran drag racer Lloyd Wofford has competed in quite a few race categories over the years, but his latest hot rod could be his greatest build of all-time. B&B Racecars took a 2014 Cadillac CTS-V coupe and cut it up in order to create one of the most stunning racecars in the popular Limited Drag Radial category. The endless chromoly tubing is designed to harness the power of a ProCharger-blown Nelson Competition 481X billet engine. A FuelTech FT600 engine management was the ECU of choice for the team due to many reasons. Simplicity in digital systems is a key factor to efficiency and reliability and the FT600 engine management offers those elements because it is an all-in-one piece of technology. The FT600—as well as the FT550, FT550 LITE, and FT450—are capable of sequential injection and ignition, O2 closed loop, Data Logger, Delay Box, Traction Control, Boost Controller, PRO-Nitrous Controller, and much more. The ECU box doubles up as an LCD display with TFT touchscreen showing real-time data and allowing the user to make adjustments without a PC connection. All FT-series ECU systems include data logging capabilities, negating the need for a separate system and integrating the data and engine management functions in the highly acclaimed FTManager software. Ignition systems are critical in supercharged combinations and the team ditched the magneto distributor in favor of the more powerful FTSPARK, which produces up to 600mj of energy. Adding a FuelTech Switch Panel offers CANbus connection, high quality and visible buttons, and the ability to expand the inputs for additional sensors or functions that feed back to the ECU.
