Many musicians and artists have been inspired by cannabis, from Liszt and Chopin to Miles Davis and Carlos Santana. Over 55 years ago, I noticed that on rare occasions, a toke or two of a particular strain would take me to a place where I would hear music differently. Each composition is thus attuned to a particular strain. which I would keep consistent throughout the recording process. I never released these tracks until cannabis was legalized in California and I was invited to be a Brand Ambassador for a leading dispensary. Each track on CANNABIS DREAMS is ‘co-composed’ with inspiration from a specific strain. Tuning in to this different ‘songs’ of each plant, on 11/11/20, I recorded a new soundscape inspired by Carlos Santana’s recently released premium strain, Mirayo ® by Santana. This track features my Rhodes electric piano, a celestial choir, and a trippy space/synth sound that will swirl around inside your head, especially with headphones.
