After having accompanied many other Quebec artists such as Pauline Julien and Monique Leyrac in the late 1960's, he decided to make his own music. Dervieux recruited several musicians with whom he had collaborated, and in 1971, he recorded the album DIMENSION 'M'. It was a ground-breaking record, an experimental fusion of classical music, jazz, rock, funk and vocal improvisations, and the first concept album by a Quebec artist." "Struck with an incurable disease, Dervieux was unable to continue his work, however several of his musicians continued in his footsteps. Bassist and composer Yves Laferriere and singer Christiane Robichaud founded the group Contraction in which we recognize his influence. Contraction released two records, a self-titled album recorded in 1972, and LA BOURSE OU LA VIE recorded in 1974. Both albums took their inspiration from DIMENSION 'M'. This reissue is dedicated to Dervieux, who left us prematurely in 1975 at the age of 43. DIMENSION 'M' constitutes the only musical heritage of this exceptional composer who would have a major impact on progressive music in Quebec."
