We decided to try to attempt a day hike to the summit of Mount Timpanogos for a hike with friends and also as part of a YouTube meetup. The hike was also intended to be a high altitude test for Brad and Jeff from Alabama. They flew to SLC the day before and came from an elevation of around 800 feet in their home town. It is quite the altitude adjustment for them. We were hoping this would give them some acclimation to the elevations here. We hiked this on July 22, 2022. This video is the start of our 8 days of adventure exploring the Utah high country. We were starting the "UHT" Uinta Highline Trail through hike the next day. It was an other epic adventure. Videos will be posted soon. Collaboration video with other YouTube Channels below. Be sure to check out their trip videos of the same hike. Enjoy! @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING @JBENHIKES @cachemacstrailtime This video can also be informational for those interested in hiking this trail. We started our hike from the Timpooneke trailhead at 4:45 AM. Timpooneke TH is one of the two most popular access points for those who want to attempt a summit. The other trailhead is located near Aspen Grove at the Stewart Falls TH. Finding a parking space at either of these trailheads is difficult due its popularity. The Alpine Loop highway near the trailhead has several turnouts used for overflow parking. However, any vehicles not parked at the trailhead or not located in a designated turnout are subject to getting a ticket and towed. So be mindful of where you park. Many start the trail in the early AM hours long before sunrise and when we started. This also helps with finding parking spots. We were ultimately about 10 hours on the trail including stops along the way for pictures of scenery, wildlife, and wildflowers. Mount Timpanogos is a prominent and popular peak in Utah County that has an elevation 11752 feet and is one of the highest mountain peaks in Utah County. The Timpanogos range has a prominence above the valley floor by about 6000 feet. Climbing Mount Timpanogos is a popular yet strenuous challenge and the trail is frequented by many who are willing to accept this challenge. All aspects of the trail are very rewarding for views, scenery, wildflowers, wildlife, and much more. Do your research and be prepared for the trail. Be sure to carry at least a gallon of water per hiker for this hike as many of the water sources on the trail dry up in the summer and fall. Take a backpack with essentials for the trail, first aide kit, rain jacket, food, etc. Weather conditions also can change drastically and suddenly. Hike with others and let people know where you are going and how long you will be. Cell phone reception can be spotty and unreliable on parts of the trail. Be safe and enjoy your trip.
