Most impulse spending isn’t about the product — it’s about the feeling aka emotional spending. In this video, I talk about how I defeated consumerism after realizing that emotional spending and impulse buying were driven by mood, identity, and “vibes” — not necessity. The world around us is engineered to trigger dopamine and push us toward purchases that feel good in the moment but take away from long-term financial freedom. A $100 steak dinner and a steak cooked at home both give you nutrition. So what are you really paying for? Most of the time, it’s the experience, validation, or temporary emotional boost — not the quality. As a self-employed creative, I’ve learned that wealth isn’t about how much money you make — it’s about how much you keep. I see peers with high income living in houses they can’t afford, driving cars they can’t afford, and having little understanding of retirement planning. What’s the point of making money if there’s nothing to show for it later? I also talk about how I shifted my impulses toward investing instead of consuming — setting up retirement accounts like an IRA and investing into ETFs such as VOO, QQQ, and SCHD. When I feel the urge to spend, I redirect it into assets instead of liabilities. This isn’t about being cheap. It’s about understanding the psychology of spending, building financial discipline, and choosing long-term wealth over short-term emotion. #Consumerism #DeInfluencing #AntiConsumerism #FinancialFreedom #90DayRun #MoneyManagement #WealthMindset #MoneyMindset #haveitoldyoulatelythatiloveyou
