Another re-edited visual, this time from my old Sony Xperia phone. Sorry about the blur in some parts, that phone always used to go in and out of focus whilst I was recording for some reason. I remember how chaotic this journey was. On the one hand you had really excited passengers shouting, dancing and listening to music throughout, especially after Tulse Hill and Brixton, and then on the other hand the driver was really fast, giving potential for thrash, although the sounds of the engine were almost muted by the sounds of the passengers. It was so chaotic that the driver wouldn't leave certain stops until the passengers were all fully seated. London bus route 2X is operated by Arriva London South at Norwood (N) garage, and is allocated to Volvo B5LH Wright Eclipse Gemini 3s (HV), however it was allocated by Alexander Dennis Enviro 400s (T) at the time of recording. It follows regular route 2 from Norwood Garage via Tulse Hill, Brixton, Stockwell, South Lambeth Road, Vauxhall, Pimlico, Victoria, and Hyde Park Corner, before following route 52 to Notting Hill Gate Station for the carnival via Knightsbridge and High Street Kensington. However, towards West Norwood route 2X follows routes 94 and 148 from Notting Hill via Queensway Station and Lancaster Gate to Marble Arch, where it joins regular route 2. Route 2X is a carnival exclusive route, only running during the Notting Hill Carnival, an annual carnival held on the last two bank holidays of August. It's a very diverse carnival, bringing many different cultures together to have a lot of fun to end the summer holidays. Other carnival exclusive routes include 36X and 205X. There was a previous 12X and 436X which have been withdrawn, and a 390X that has been shown on blind sets but never used. The carnival probably won't happen this year due to lockdown and social distancing, however if it does go on, I'd like to go back there and do a visual on double decker 316, and maybe 205X too. Route 316 only uses double deckers during the carnival too. I hope you are all safe during this lockdown. Only go out for essential needs, such as shopping or exercise, if you don't need to then stay home. I'd like to thank all bus drivers, NHS nurses and doctors, and all other key workers for they're hard work and support, doing all they can to protect the country. Let's hope this all ends soon!
