Bliss and Wisdom Sangha Joins International Sangha Forum: Bridging Traditions and Promoting Global Harmony 🟡Bliss & Wisdom Sangha attends the 2023 International Sangha Forum in Bodh Gaya. 🟡Venerable Master Ru-Jing addresses global Buddhist leaders, representing Taiwanese Buddhists. 🟡Forum promotes interfaith dialogue and Buddhist contributions to peace in the 21st century. From December 20 to 23, 2023, the Bliss & Wisdom Sangha was invited to participate in the "2023 International Sangha Forum" held in Bodh Gaya, India, a sacred site in Buddhist tradition. The forum, co-organized by the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the International Buddhist Confederation, and the Tibetan Cultural Center in Singapore, centered around the theme, "Bridging Traditions, Embracing Modernity: A Dialogue on Buddha's Teachings in Today's World." The opening ceremony, presided over by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, welcomed over 3,000 Sangha members and Buddhist leaders from across the globe. His Holiness emphasized the compassion inherent in Buddhism, highlighting its potential to guide individuals toward inner peace. He urged all Buddhists to cultivate compassion for the benefit of oneself and others and to use the Dharma to serve the world. He also reminded attendees that holding good intentions, regardless of religious affiliation, is the foundation of a happy life. 🌸Taiwanese Buddhists Voice Their Commitment to Harmony🌸 Representing Taiwanese Buddhists, Venerable Master Ru-Jing of Bliss & Wisdom addressed the forum, expressing deep gratitude for His Holiness's advocacy for interfaith harmony and global peace. Master Ru-Jing reflected on the Buddha's sacrifice of princely wealth to find a path of liberation for all beings, emphasizing the shared heritage of Buddhists across traditions. "Whether from the Pali or Sanskrit Buddhist traditions, monks and nuns who come together to exchange knowledge, appreciate each other's practices, and learn from one another can unite the global Buddhist community," said Master Ru-Jing. He added that such unity strengthens the Buddhist role in promoting religious harmony and world peace—particularly critical in a world facing pandemics, conflicts, and climate crises. This year's forum explored not only the teachings of discipline, concentration, and wisdom but also the relevance of Buddhist philosophy in modern society. Special attention was given to the practical implications of the Buddhist concept of emptiness in today's interconnected world. 🌸A Legacy of Devotion to the Dharma🌸 The Bliss & Wisdom Sangha, founded by the late Elder Master Jih-Chang, has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to Mahayana Buddhism. Since 1993, Elder Master Jih-Chang annually led the Sangha, including monks, nuns, and lay disciples, to India to receive teachings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This tradition has continued even after his passing, with the Sangha maintaining its dedication to studying and preserving the pure and complete Mahayana teachings under the guidance of renowned Tibetan masters. In September 2023, during the "Chinese Indian Dharma Group" pilgrimage, His Holiness extended an invitation to the Bliss & Wisdom Sangha to join the International Sangha Forum. 🌸Building Bridges Across Buddhist Traditions🌸 Master Ru-Jing expressed the Sangha's aspiration to deepen relationships with Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana practitioners through the forum, as well as to foster connections with religious leaders and scholars worldwide. The forum will conclude on December 23 with a "World Peace Prayer Ceremony" at the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, where His Holiness, alongside international Buddhist leaders and followers, will offer blessings for world peace.
