Preheat oven to 170°C. 2️⃣ Mix Dry – Sift maida, cornflour, baking powder & salt 2–3 times. 3️⃣ Wet Base – In a bowl, whisk sugar, condensed milk, oil, milk, vanilla & cake gel. Beat 2–3 mins until light & frothy. 4️⃣ Combine – Fold dry mix into wet mixture in 2–3 additions. Batter should be smooth & flowing. 5️⃣ Bake – Pour into pan, tap to remove air bubbles. Bake 170°C for 40–45 mins (skewer test clean). 6️⃣ Cool & Demould – Rest 10 mins in pan, then cool completely on wire rack. 🔑 Pro Tips ✔ Cake gel keeps sponge moist & soft – do not skip! ✔ For extra softness, replace 30ml milk with liquid glucose/glycerine (optional). ✔ Use fine powdered sugar only (not granulated). ✔ Do not open oven door in first 20 mins.
