On November 23, 2024. Deputies from the Juneau County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to look for a vehicle that was reported to be carrying heroin and methamphetamine. The reporting party, who wished to remain anonymous, said the vehicle was being operated by a female named Toni. He said that he was previously in the vehicle but that Toni had left him behind. Juneau County Dispatch confirmed that Toni had several felony warrants. The reporting party stated Toni was operating a blue minivan and had two passengers. Deputies knew from previous contacts with the parties, that they were all known to be involved in narcotic use and sales. About 20 minutes later, a deputy located the minivan as it pulled into a gas station in the Village of Lyndon Station. The Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop due to the license plate not being registered to a vehicle. The vehicle drove in between two rows of gas pumps before accelerating forward over grass and gravel that divided two separate parking lots. The deputy informed dispatch that the vehicle had fled and that he was in pursuit. The suspect vehicle drove recklessly at speeds of 100 miles per hour. The pursuit lasted approximately 16.1 miles and ended when Toni abruptly stopped her vehicle and deputies conducted a high-risk traffic stop. Unfortunately, there is no dash camera footage from the pursuit. During the pursuit, deputies observed a black object thrown from the passenger side of the vehicle; they attempted to locate the object later, but were unsuccessful. The occupants were called from the vehicle one at a time and detained. The driver was positively identified by her ID card as Toni. The front passenger was identified as Shaun, and the rear passenger was identified as Justin. Deputies read all three occupants of the vehicle their Miranda rights. All three of the occupants stated that Toni fled due to her warrants. Justin and Toni initially denied knowledge of any narcotics in the vehicle. Shaun stated he believed that Toni might have had narcotics in the center console, but stated he was not sure. Shortly later, a Deputy utilized her K9 partner around and inside of the vehicle and stated she received a positive alert. A search of the vehicle revealed six "Suboxone" brand buprenorphine strips. Throughout the rest of the vehicle, deputies located several pieces of tin foil with a burnt black residue on them. A scale with a white powder residue was collected from Toni's bag. Three loose pills that were later identified as Gabapentin were collected as well. Toni admitted that the tinfoil was used for smoking heroin. She also admitted that she did not have a prescription for the buprenorphine. Further investigation showed that Toni has five open felony cases in Adams and Sauk County. The driver, Toni was found guilty for 2nd-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety. Multiple other charges were dismissed but read In while considering her sentencing. She was sentenced to 5 years in prison and 5 years of extended supervision. Both passengers were released without any charges. This video is for educational purposes only.
