Yesterday, somehow woke up while humming this song, hence the change of plan – I was going to finish either the Ep 5 on FRau or the playlist of ‘’Winter Wonderland’’ (Only one track left!). This is the theme song of [마리이야기 (My Beautiful Girl, Mari)], a 2002 Korean animated film. One year later, it was included in our Giant Fairy’s special album ‘‘Try to Remember’’ as the final track. By the way, the background of the release of this album is quite interesting. Let’s leave it for now 🤫) The songwriter [이병우 Lee Byung-woo] is also the producer of this OST album. Master Lee is a renowned classical guitarist who has participated in various cinematic soundtrack projects, and received numerous accolades for his outstanding contributions. In fact, ‘‘My Beautiful Girl, Mari’’ was awarded ‘‘The Best Music’’ of the 1st KOREAN FILM AWARDS (2002) 🏆 Our Giant Fairy’s crystal-clear voice in this song is a mystical, ethereal showcase 💎 When listening with my eyes closed, it feels as if I’m soaring in the serene azure skies, cradled by the soft fluffy white clouds, and all the worries and fatigue simply fade away. But, why have I never heard of any Purple Ocean bringing up this song? Is it too old? 🤔🫤 🌤️🌤️🌤️ Chose this picture simply because of the innocence our Giant Fairy exudes. Also, his super adorable lips make me wanna steal kisses from him ~ But I’m sure I’d have to fight off all the other Purple Ocean first to get to him *sweat*~ (And most likely, I'd be dead before I could make a move for real... He's so well-loved after all ~) 🌤️🌤️🌤️ I watched this film on YouTube (A kind-hearted netizen shared her pirated version) as I couldn’t find it anywhere else (One of the downsides of living here in the U.K.) 🫤 Initially, I felt that the pictures paled in comparison with Ghibli (I’m a huge Ghibli fan, but this is just a personal reference. I wasn’t judging or criticising 🙅). However, as the story unfolded, I realised how the spatial perspective, the interplay of the light and shadow, etc. in the film are equally impressive -- The sense of depth and dimension actually adds to the calm and warmth in the seemingly-plain drawing style 🩵 🌤️🌤️🌤️ Frankly, I’ve been struggling lately. My sweet neighbour Jenny passed away a few days ago… after her sweet husband John’s untimely passing at the beginning of March. At first, Jenny was hospitalised due to her old breathing problem. After the examination, the doctor commented, ‘‘She has a broken heart…’’ This beautiful couple were not just our neighbours. They were part of our family here in England. It really hit me hard💔 Therefore I rewatched ‘‘My Beautiful Girl, Mari’’ yesterday to give myself a mental break... When the children were waving goodbye as the train pulled away, I suddenly thought of how the phrase, ‘‘Take care’’, has occupied most of my life and it made me sentimental. At this stage of life, I feel that, actually, death itself is not scary. What truly terrifies is watching loved ones depart one by one. I really need to remind myself to keep trusting in my Heavenly Father: ✝️So long thy pow’r hath blest me, sure it still Will lead me on O’er moor and fen, o’er crag and torrent, till The night is gone. And with the morn those angel faces smile, Which I have loved long since, and lost awhile! ✝️ May we all learn to be at peace with LIFE.
