With only 5,564 miles, this Dodge Viper is one of those cars that demands attention even when it’s sitting still. Its squat stance, broad fenders, huge tires, and short rear deck scream that this is a machine built solely for speed. Known as the “Second Generation” Vipers, these cars became more street friendly by adding roll up windows and other comfort features such as air conditioning and leather seats. Remaining most impressive for the second-generation car is the Viper’s massive V10 engine mounted on what is believed to be the stiffest sports car chassis ever built. This particular one is considered the holy grail in Viper blue with white stripes and was everyone's poster car growing up as a child! EXTERIOR: Painted in a gorgeous Viper blue with white stripes and polished aluminum wheels. The color is striking! With its wide white stripes running tip to tail across the top and with its massive tires (front 275/40R17 and rear 335/35R17) it has a stance that is intimidating. Also new to the GTS body are exterior door handles and a NACA duct which rammed air into the engine intake. A number of weight saving measures were taken to reduce the overall weight of the GTS. Many suspension components were cast in aluminum instead of iron. These components, combined with a lighter engine (thanks to less coolant) made the GTS 60 lbs lighter than the roadster. This reduction is quite remarkable considering the extra bodywork and glass needed for the roof of the GTS. More aspects contribute to the '97 Dodge Viper GTS's remarkable performance, including smooth steering, upgraded exhaust system, and sticky tires. It also has coil-shock suspension, which is a necessary “go-fast” unit as it provides far better control on the road. INTERIOR: Inside, the black leather bucket seats feature perforated inserts, while additional factory standard goodies include air conditioning, power windows and mirrors, plus an Alpine CD player. The entire interior still looks and smells brand new. It is spotless! What's really absorbing about the inside of the 1997 Viper GTS is how separate parts are in harmony with each other. The sleek, minimalistic interior design fleshes out its uniqueness when mixed up with bright colors. The signature taillights and headlights add character to the car, as well as two subtle bumps on the roof and dual front airbags. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Under the hood of the 1997 Dodge Viper GTS lies a powerful 8.0-liter V10 that puts out a maximum of 450 hp at 5,200 rpm and 490 lb-ft. of torque at 3,700 rpm. This outrageous engine sends power right to the rear axle and is coupled with a fully synchronized 6-speed manual transmission and massive tires. It is a blast to drive!! TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The trunk compartment is fully carpeted and in excellent shape. Inside you’ll find all the original documents that came with the car when new.
