What Is CMMC? The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) is a unified standard for implementing cybersecurity across the defense industrial base (DIB). The CMMC is the DoD's response to significant compromises of sensitive defense information located on contractors' information systems. The CMMC will help ensure that all contractors in the supply chain are protecting CUI from cyber threats. CMMC has three levels of maturity, each with increasingly stringent requirements. Contractors will need to be certified at the appropriate level in order to do business with the DoD.
