Start with an idea. Remember to keep it simple and keep it fun. It should take no more than an hour to film, edit and upload to StoveTop Hero. The camera doesn't need to be fancy. A Flip, iPhone, Droid, Sony Cybershot, anything that will take video and can be uploaded to your computer is fine. You will also need to create a YouTube account if you don't already have one. Go to: http://youtube.com. Next write down your cooking ingredients on a cheat sheet that you can put in front of you but keep out of view of the camera. Do all of your prep work beforehand (e.g. chop onions, measure out seasoning, etc) this will give you a visual reminder of what to do when you are being filmed. The camera person should have a good perch to work from. Pointing the camera down on the chef, chopping block, stovetop, etc makes for the best effect. Also, don't worry about making mistakes - you can deal with that later. Just keep the camera rolling and have fun with this. Only stop the camera when you need a break. Try to keep the video to around 10 minutes. YouTube has a maximum of 15 minutes, but we've found that 10 minutes or even less keeps people engaged. You can use a number of video editing tools like Windows Live Movie Maker (http://explore.live.com/windows-live-...) for the PC or iMovie (http://www.apple.com/ilife/imovie/) for the Mac. Once your video is ready go to http://stovetophero.com and click the "Upload Video" button. It will ask you to log into your YouTube account. From here you can upload your video or enter the URL of a video that you've already upload on YouTube. Now you can go onto Facebook and get all of your friends to "Like" your video. The video with the most Likes at the end of the month wins cash prizes. Good luck and show us what's cookin' (I do not own any rights to the awesome Beck music.)
