Recently, he has been in poor health and wanted to leave these arrangements for future generations before he departs this world. For this reason, he asked various people to record his arrangements as videos so they could be widely shared and enjoyed. I was honored to be invited to participate in this recording and, together with three other colleagues (Daisuke Suzuki, Shinji Ikeda and Satoshi Kogure), recorded three arrangements for a guitar trio and bass guitar. The three arrangements were “Sunflower,” “Over the Rainbow,” and “Invierno Porteño” (Winter in Buenos Aires). Additionally, in France Judicaël Perroy and his students (Erika Otani, Eliot Girardon, Vasco Grãos, Judicaël Perroy, and Elsa Canesse) recorded “MI•YO•TA” by Toru Takemitsu and the “Andante” from Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12. I hope that this work, created with colleagues from Japan and France, reflects Mr. Kasai’s love for the guitar. I also hope that many people enjoy these arrangements and that more guitarists will be inspired to perform them.
