With a dire shortage of units to operate the two days of the Haven Great Yarmouth Air Show, there was only one option to really take. Last year in September, the Wherry Lines said farewell to its class 68 short set, which had had the contracts extended many times due to class 170 no. 170204 having a serious incident in 2016, and the class 156 units being fitted with WSP (Wheel-Slide Protection). The option was, to bring back the class 68s and this time, use two sets. Not of three Mk2s, but of a full rake of Mk3s infact! Class 321s would replace the two sets on the Great Yarmouth Air Show Specials and class 170s would replace the class 153s and class 156s. The class 68s were used wholly for extra capacity for the first ever Great Yarmouth Air Show as the one due to be held in 2017 was unfortunately cancelled, so the crowds would therefore be no doubt bigger than what was probably anticipated for 2017! This video shows the two class 68 loco-hauled sets with no's. 68001, 68002, 68004 and 68018 working non-stop runs to and from Great Yarmouth to the lively city of Norwich. Most were via Berney Arms, but a few ran via Acle, too. Filmed with cmeonthemove and The East Anglian Spotter throughout, make sure you turn up your speakers, headphones, or what ever device you use, and listen for the mega loud power unit that is, the Caterpillar C175-16. Also included are a couple of shots of the class 37 short set on the Friday (Buckenham) and Saturday (Brundall). The class 68 Air Show Specials are also seen twice at Brundall on the Saturday.
