If Grandpa Phil from "Hey Arnold!" had to deal with the tomatoes from "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes", he'd not only survive, but he'd thrive. After all, not only is Phil an absolute powerhouse in terms of strength, but years of insanity from his wife and tenants have prepared him for anything and he knows his tomatoes thanks to his family's history with the Tomato Incident. As a result, Phil has encyclopedic knowledge about every kind of tomato imaginable, which includes, but isn't limited to: inferior British tomatoes, which are small and hard, American tomatoes, which serve as the baseline for all produce, and Chilean tomatoes, which are so juicy that they make watermelons look like shriveled up regular melons by comparison. And as if Phil wasn't powerful enough already, he has a crackerjack crew backing him up: Ernie, the demolition expert with a mallet and enough firepower to level half the city, Mr. Hyun, a man with the heart of a survivor who knows the proper way to make a taco, Gertie, the wild card, and Oskar, the meat shield who's forcibly sacrificed to the tomatoes on the off-chance that things go south so that the others can escape. That is, unless Oskar tries to run away and leave everyone else at the boarding house to fend for themselves the moment things get tense, only to come back once the dust settles and try to hog all the credit for the victory.
