Wide of traffic LEAD IN Tehran's large population depends on cars and other vehicles to get around the huge city. But a shortage of taxis has prompted many commuters to use unregulated so-called 'gypsy cabs' to take them to their destination. STORYLINE Unemployed men like Esmaeil Karimi, say that driving people around is a good way to make a living in Tehran. Esmaeil used to own a barbecue store, but when his money ran out he began to work as a unlicensed taxi driver. He says that it only needs a small amount of money to buy a car. But the licensed drivers are not happy. The are employed by the Transport Organisation. Taxi driver, Mujtaba Mehrabi, says the unlicensed drivers take their passengers, and sometimes they harass customers. But there is no organisation to control and supervise them. Rising unemployment is forcing more and more men to become 'gypsy cab' drivers. Ali Salmani drives commuters around the city in his new car, he says that it is the best way to make a decent living.
