Dr. Harish NS | Appointment Booking No.8105498008 Laparoscopic Surgeon & Surgical Gastroenterologist|Prime Laparoscopy Clinic, Bangalore Breast Diseases are most common in young patients and elderly patients . So it can be divided into benign and malignant diseases. So in benign diseases, fibroadenoma, fibrocystic diseases, cyclical mastalgia are the ailments in young patients, if the patient has a lump, we have to think in terms of malignancy in elderly patients. So this is why I am going to discuss about benign and malignant breast diseases. In cyclical mastlaigia the young female will have pan during their cycles and they will have intolerable pain during their cycles and mood swings. usually the treatment for this is symptomatic. We treat them with painkillers, multivitamins and hot fermentation. If the young patients have swelling that is mobile, we can think this is a simple fibroadenoma. So we advise the patient to have a self examination before coming to the clinician. So for the treatment of fibroadmeona we do a simple excision and we do exisional biopsy and send it for biopsy. Another condition called as fibrocystic disease, will have multiple small nodular selling and again the treatment is simple and conservative management. Proper counseling and we advise painkillers and hot fermentation. The main bothering issue is the malignancy, we have to do self examination every month and if we find out if there is a lump, we have to come to a clinician to do clinical examination. If the lump is fixed and is increasing in size and if there is any skin changes then we think in a suspicion of malignancy. That time we do simple investigation like sonomamogarm, FNAC of the swelling. So that give a clear cut diagnosis whether we can do conservative management or simple management. So mostly we can do excision that is done under local anesthesia and it is painless procedure. If the lump is very large and presents with long duration and if there is any skin changes, we do consider malignancy as one option, where we investigate thoroughly
