Egyptian journalist Ibrahim Eissa calls Muslim Brotherhood ‘a massive threat’ to Egypt

In a TV interview, Egyptian journalist Ibrahim Eissa called the sociopolitical organisation the Muslim Brotherhood “a massive threat” to Egypt and said the Egyptian people are “well aware” of it. Eissa’s comments come as the hashtag “It’s your turn, Dictator” recently went viral on Egyptian social media, following the fall of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad late last year. The hashtag was launched by Ahmed al-Mansour, an Egyptian fighter in Syria, who has demanded the resignation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. The TV personality stressed that engaging in any protest against the government would cause “chaos and destruction in the country”. “They’ve already learned their lessons from 25 January and June 30,” he added, referring to the start of the 2011 revolution and the 30 June 2013 mass protests that called for the resignation of Egypt’s first democratically elected president, Mohamed Morsi, which eventually resulted in a coup d’etat led by Sisi.
