Dr. Abhishek explained that diabetes is a chronic metabolic disorder where the body either doesn’t produce enough insulin or cannot use it effectively, leading to high blood sugar levels. Over time, uncontrolled diabetes causes macrovascular (large blood vessel) and microvascular (small blood vessel) complications. Macrovascular damage increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and poor circulation, leading to conditions like peripheral artery disease. Microvascular complications affect smaller blood vessels, leading to diabetic retinopathy (damage to the blood vessels in the eyes, causing vision problems), diabetic nephropathy (kidney damage that can progress to kidney failure), and diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage causing pain, numbness, and weakness, often in the hands and feet). Genetic factors such as as a family history of diabetes, along with lifestyle factors like poor diet, lack of exercise, obesity, and high stress levels, significantly contribute to the development of diabetes. To help manage diabetes and prevent complications, Dr. Abhishek introduced a new device called CGMS (Continuous Glucose Monitoring System). This device continuously tracks blood sugar levels, providing personalized graphs and an average sugar trend for each patient, helping them monitor fluctuations in real-time. The goal is to keep blood sugar within the recommended range of 60 to 180 mg/dL to prevent complications. By analyzing the patient’s glucose patterns, the device alerts them if their sugar levels are too high or too low, allowing timely interventions. The data can also help doctors make informed adjustments to medications, diet, and exercise plans, ensuring better diabetes management and control of HbA1c levels. To maintain stable blood sugar levels and improve overall health, patients should focus on healthy lifestyle modifications. A balanced diet with low-glycemic foods, regular physical activity, and stress management play key roles in diabetes control. Avoiding excessive sugar and processed foods, maintaining a consistent meal schedule, and ensuring adequate hydration are essential. If the CGMS device detects fluctuations, dietary changes, medication adjustments, or increased physical activity may be recommended. Regular monitoring, medication adherence, and lifestyle adjustments based on CGMS insights can help prevent complications and improve the quality of life for diabetic patients. #AasthaCares #DiabetesManagement #HealthyLiving #BloodSugarControl
