We find the lost engine of the DC3 NAC flight 441 that crashed in the treacherous Kaimai Ranges in 1963, New Zealand's worst local air disaster. The DC3 wreckage found surpassed expectations; and was lost for over 59 years. See timestamps & further info below. 3rd July 1963, 20 passengers and 3 crew members died near Mt Ngatamahinerua making this New Zealand's worst INTERNAL air disaster to date. Mt Erebus flight 901 was New Zealand's worst but that was not within New Zealand. It is our hope to recover the engine, to be used as a memorial at Tauranga airport, the location that flight 441 was destined for.
