Bike packing on the Wherryman's Way. 56km from Norwich Rail station to Gt Yarmouth Station. This is the last of my videos in my mini series exploring LONG DISTANCE FOOT PATH & RAILWAY - Bike packing in Norfolk. It's a cycle adventure across varied terrain on an ancient route not specifically for bikes! Lots of gates, styles fences and obstacles. Predominantly flat, the route follows closely to the River Yare. Cross to the North bank at Reedham Chain Ferry (£1 for pedestrian and bike), and enter the marshes toward Breyden Water. A long distance riverside way which follows the route of the historic Broads trading wherries between Norwich and Great Yarmouth stations, it winds through open marshes, reedbeds, grazing meadows and riverside villages along the banks of the River Yare, such as Cantley, Reedham and Burney Arms, that have linking stations. Waymarkers along the route include stainless steel wherry sails, life-like figures, information panels and audio points. The Broads is Britain's largest protected wetland and the wherry is a large cargo-carrying barge whose elegant black sails - was a once common sight on these waters. Sighting of adders, between Berney Arms to Great Yarmouth, basking in the sun have been reported. Extra care is needed and the advice is not to interfere or disturb them. Enjoy!
