Hi, Ciao! I am Layman from Layman History, and in this video, we will unveil the truth about fascism - whether it is from the left or right! This video will also discover surprising real-life socialist policies implemented under Fascist regimes like in Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy. We will debunk misconceptions and expose the harsh truth about Fascism's 'socialist' origin. Make sure to hit that like button, subscribe button and generally all the other good buttons if you wish to support my channel! As always, take care and see you next uni break! NOTES: Fascist Italy did not have corporations for the military and religious groups as shown in the video. Instead, the corporations were of various industries (such as agriculture, commerce, banking, trade unions...) Fascist Italy also did NOT have worker corporations. Rather, each corporation was comprised of employers, employees and other participants within that specific industry. Although I use the term 'state' as a synonym for the government, fascist definition of state is a shared belief/idea/language/culture among people. It's hard to explain but basically, state is a group of people who share similarities. Technically, Nazism is a branch of fascism - not fascism itself. This is because it focuses heavily on the racial/ethic aspect of a state. When Mussolini referred to 'socialism', what he meant was Marxian socialism (based on class division). When Hitler referred to 'socialism', what he meant was Judeo-Bolshevism (based on USSR, I guess? idek). When we refer to 'socialism' (usually), what we mean is Marxian socialism. In case I didn't make it clear, fascism (in my opinion) is an offspring of socialism. Instead of Marxian socialist beliefs (such as class conflict and worker's control), they had non-Marxist socialist beliefs to achieve communism. NEW THOUGHTS AFTER COMMENTS & RESEARCH: I have a better understanding after reading some of the materials suggested by the people in the comments (namely Sorel and Parenti) I changed my perspective so that fascism is a weird offspring of Marxism (rather than a form of socialism). Sorel and Gentile strayed away from Marxist perspectives and can be considered Marxist-revisionists (or even anti-Marxists). In other words, Marx's idea of class struggle was considered unrealistic and replaced with more state-based and class collaborative ideology - corporatism. IMPORTANT SOURCES: D'Souza, D. (2017).
