The Romantische Strasse adventure continues! Leaving the beautiful city of Augsburg, I ride south along one of Germany’s most iconic touring routes. This is where the scenery truly begins to shine — sweeping landscapes, charming towns, and that unmistakable Bavarian atmosphere. After a quick stop for breakfast (a long-time favourite of mine… a classic German Frikadelle), the anticipation builds as I approach Füssen and the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle. Along the way, I even chat with a group of American travellers dreaming of riding the area themselves. Once checked into the hotel in Füssen, it’s time to tick off another bucket-list moment: ascending the mighty Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain at over 9,000 ft. The cable car ride is dramatic, a little nerve-wracking, but absolutely unforgettable. At the summit, I’m rewarded with jaw-dropping panoramic views, crystal-clear visibility, and perfect sunshine.
