Fresh details have emerged in the Sabarimala gold theft case in Kerala, with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) submitting a report that raises new questions in the probe. According to the SIT, not only idols but additional gold from temple artefacts is missing. The agency said the exact quantity of the stolen gold cannot be ascertained until a detailed scientific examination is conducted. The report also noted that several door frames at the temple premises were found to have been tampered with. The case has triggered a political row in the state. Amid reports that UDF convener and Congress MP Adoor Prakash could be summoned for questioning, he dismissed the claims as fake news, alleging that the reports were being planted by the Chief Minister’s Office.
