For years, many of us have seen the Annual Pasadena, CA Rose Parade on TV. But if you have ever wanted to view the beautiful Rose Parade in person, this video will give you 7 tips and show you what to expect when you view the Rose Parade in person. This video is packed with non-stop action from the 134th Annual Rose Parade. TURN UP THE VOLUME for the original audio captured by the microphone. Quite different from a telecast broadcast. The parade in person is 2 hours long, but when you cut out all the gaps, it comes in as 1 Hour as this video shows. This video was filmed using a DJI Osmo Action Camera mounted to a Feiyutech G6 Gimbal and using an external Saramonic microphone to capture the audio. It was filmed at 4K 60FPS with a shutter speed of 1/40th per second at ISO 200 using a ND 32 Filter. This video recording was of the complete Rose Parade from start to finish on what we witnessed. There was an unforeseen delay near the end of the video and as a result, the Nascar Float was not on route to film. Here is the Rose Parade committees official response: "The Rose Parade Instagram account stated, “We are extremely disappointed that the Nascar and Snapchat floats, as well as the Fresno State Bulldog Marching Band, were not seen on the national broadcasts of today’s Rose Parade due to unforeseen delays,” “We appreciate the time and energy that goes into each unit in the Parade, and for the results of that effort to be missed by those watching across the country is heartbreaking.” Here is my 2 cents..... As a witness, I can tell you what the delay was. In the last few minutes of the parade, the audience assumed the parade was over and a huge crowd spilled onto Colorado Boulevard. As a result, the last 2 events could not get through the crowd. Air time for the live broadcasts was running out and so the Nascar Float, The Snapchat Float and the Fresno State Bulldog Marching Band did not get any national air time. KTLA 5 Los Angeles Broadcast did show the Nascar Float , the Snapchat Float and the Fresno State Bulldogs Marching Band. At the end of my parade video, the Snapchat float, appropriately named, "Wait'll You See This" was filmed what appears to be moving faster than the 2.5 MPH pace. Classic ending to a parade, probably trying to get national air time or catch up, they were way behind the others. To be last......Good marketing move for Snapchat I say.....almost as saying, Wait you have to see this.... 😂 Some Helpful Tips to Plan Your Trip: Some of the hassles that often deter people from viewing the Rose Parade in person are the following Questions. Traveling from my home in San Diego, these were some of my concerns... 1. How early do I have to get to Downtown Pasadena to view the parade in person without spending the night on Colorado Boulevard to get a coveted viewing location? I left San Diego at 4AM. 2. Where am I going to find parking and what time should I be there to park? I planned ahead by choosing A Metro Gold Line Station. 3. How much will parking cost if I am on a budget? Was expecting about $3.00 per hour, but they had an elevated special event parking fee. This Video will answer those questions with some tips. Here is a recap of my recommendations that worked for my family and I on January 2nd, 2023. (Wait! Why January 2nd? The Rose Parade is never held on a Sunday if January 1st happens to be a Sunday. Back in the old days, they had horses tied to church buildings and the parade"s marching bands might startle the horses. So the tradition was made a long time ago in the 1800's; never to hold the Rose Parade on a Sunday.) Park at the Metro Gold Line Station located at : 230 S Raymond Ave. Pasadena, CA 91105 Park between 5:30AM and before 6:00AM for hassle free parking. The cost in 2023 was $15.00 for the special event parking. (Note: Other places charge from $25.00 to $70 Preferred Parking at other locations.) From the parking garage you can walk right up to Colorado BLVD in about 10 minutes; making it really convenient. If you plan on attending the Rose Bowl Game, you can take the subway train for about $10.00 to the Rose Bowl Game. But they might not allow you to take fold-able chairs and coolers to the parade or game. So If you plan on just viewing the parade, walking to Colorado BLVD is convenient. When you plan on viewing the Rose Parade in person, you may face some hesitations not knowing what to expect. To that, my main and first tip is JUST GO! It's not a nightmare of traffic and hassles with proper planning ahead. Have fun and enjoy the Rose Parade in person in the future.
