The Carousels were a group of singing sisters from Adelaide, who don't seem to have released any recordings of their own, but were known for touring to entertain the troops in Vietnam. This version of the Supremes hit was filmed for Hit Scene (ABC TV), July 24 1970. A 2015 news article explains a little more about the group: "A SOLDIER and a singer who last saw each other on an army base south of Saigon during the Vietnam War have reunited unexpectedly in Maleny. Paul Stockwell and Sharyn Chapman coincidentally both live in Maleny these days, and a chance meeting at the Upfront Club a few weeks ago has sent both of them on a surprise journey down memory lane. Paul was a 20-year-old draftee from the Gold Coast and stationed at Vung Tau when he first set eyes on Sharyn Chapman, who was on stage with her two younger sisters as part of the girl group The Carousels. It was 1970. The air was thick with heat, humid rain and the mind torture of anxiety that only a war can stir up. The Carousels performed day and night shows for two months all over Vietnam. "A lot of the time we felt quite sad for them (the Australian soliders) because they shouldn't have been over there - it was a terrible war," Sharyn said. She met Paul in Maleny a fortnight ago when her husband, Trevor, and a friend introduced them. "Paul brought it all back to me - it just made us all realise how pointless the whole thing was," she said." https://www.qt.com.au/news/maleny-res...
