Sangiran Museum, Krikilan Cluster - The First Home of Human Erectus

Sangiran, which located 15km from Solo, Central of Java was first found by P.E.C.Schemulling in 1883 and started to get researched in 1934 by German anthropologist, G.H.R. Ralph von Koenigswald. It was then recognized by UNESCO as Sangiran Early Man Site in 1996. It is said that the Homo Erectus is the missing link of Darwin’s evolution theory. Therefore the finding of its fossil suddenly makes Sangiran famous among archeologists. The Krikilan Cluster is built to be the center of information for tourists and locals. There are many fossils being kept in this cluster and you can also learn on the life of early man. I was first visiting the museum at mid of 2019 and it is one of the biggest museum you can find in Java. It is modern and comfortable to walk around the air conditioned museum. Do not forget to relax around the garden after your visit! More development is incoming from time to time including the transportations between clusters.
