Step back in time to February 11th 1964, just two days after the Beatles premiered on the Ed Sullivan Show. The Beatles are preparing for their first public show on US soil at the Washington Coliseum. Now, with only hours to go before they take the stage, the Beatles sat down for an interview with Carroll James. Carroll was a popular DJ in Washington, DC with a neat connection to the Beatles. In December 1963, he played "I Want to Hold Your Hand" on the radio station, WWDC. This marked the first time that a U.S. disc jockey would broadcast a Beatles record over the airwaves to the American public. The request came from a 15 year old fan, Marsha Albert. She wrote to WWDC and requested to hear the band after seeing them on television. Hear the Fab Four reflect on their sudden rise in the States, answer fan-centric questions, and share candid moments with the interviewer. This clip captures a unique slice of Beatlemania history and the beginnings of their legendary careers!
