Description: We are in Meteora, a complex of dark colored sandstone rocks that rise outside Kalambaka in Thessaly, near the first heights of Pindos and Hasia. The film opens with shots of the moving car showing a road lined with cypress trees on both sides of the road. Afterwards, the filmmaker approaches Meteora and we see the impressive rocks. The camera stays briefly on Varlaam Monastery or Monastery of All Saints, a men's monastery, on top of a steep cliff as we then see people visiting the monasteries with an elderly woman greeting the lens. The view changes with a bell tower and a woman admiring the view from the Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior, also known as the Great Meteor, as we see the mechanism with the net, which the monks used to access the monastery . Then, we see one more shot with the filmmaker’s company, who look at the lens, coming down from the monasteries. The film closes with views of the Meteora from the moving car. The monasteries of Meteora, which are built on the tops of some of the rocks, are today the second most important monastic complex in Greece, after Mount Athos. Of the thirty that existed historically, today only six are in operation, which, since 1988, have been included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
