#porsche #porsche911 #porsche911s Porsche has said that there will not be an electric 911, at least for now. However, hybrid technology is definitely on the way, starting with the 992 generation. Some versions of the 992 911 will get electric powertrains when it gets its mid-cycle update in the next six to twelve months. One of them is likely to be the 911 Turbo S, and a prototype of the updated model has been seen again. The prototypes being tried may look like the current 911 Turbo S, but some of them have a yellow sticker on them because that's what the industry needs for electric test cars in some places, like Germany, which is home to Porsche. Oliver Blume, the CEO of Porsche, said last year that an electric 911 is on the way. He said it would be a hybrid like the old 919 Hybrid LMP1 race car and not a plug-in hybrid like the 918 Spyder hypercar. This means there won't be a plug, and any electric motor-generator(s) will only be used to power the internal combustion engine and get energy back when the car stops. Our source says that the 911 Turbo S hybrid will not have an 800-volt power system like the Taycan electric car. Instead, it will have a 400-volt system. In order to charge quickly, the higher voltage system is better, but this isn't needed for a hybrid because its battery is much smaller than an EV's. The electric motor will likely be built into the drive. August Achleitner, who used to be the head of 911, told Motor Authority in a 2019 interview that the 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox in the 992-generation 911 is the same unit used in hybrid Panameras, which also have an electric motor built into the transmission. The standard 911 Turbo with a new look is also out testing. There are rumors that this model will not have hybrid technology, though. The refreshed 911 Turbo S will also have some changes to the way it looks. The samples show that the taillights and exhaust tips have new designs. It is also planned to update the front fascia and add new parts to the headlights that will make the beams better and more focused. Instead of being on the front fascia like they are now, the turn signs could be built into the headlights. The new 911 Turbo S should come out either late this year or early next year. It should come out at the same time as a refreshed 911 Carrera, which is also likely to have a hybrid choice. In the U.S., they should come out in 2025. Stay tuned for more information as the project continues.
