Deadly venomous bushmasters are the longest vipers in the world. Many people are afraid of these snakes. However, bushmasters rarely bite someone and prefer to live in the primary forests far away from people. The Central American bushmaster (Lachesis stenophrys) lives in Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. It is a rare viper species and it needs to be protected. Bushmaster conservation project studies the ecology of bushmasters and educates local communities of importance to the ecosystem. 4 bushmasters have implanted transmitters into their bodies and are tracked. Thanks to that, very precious data are gathered about this pit viper species in Costa Rica. In this video, you will learn the general info about the project and you will see how tracking activity looks like. We were lucky and saw the first tracked bushmaster in the project nicely visible!
