Simple approach of setting up the SSL so a channel is assigned one role only - either as a live, mic input or a stereo line (from computer) monitor. This is suggested by SSL in the manual as the Basic Tracking mode - and is basically setting up the console in the traditional split mode. So you could have channels 1-20 setup as mic inputs and channels 21 -24 setup as 4 stereo monitor returns from the computer you are recording to. Not mentioned (omitted by mistake) is that Channel 24 is set to STEREO via the select button and ST pressed from the buttons on the master section - and all the internal channels in the DAW are assigned to output 24.
