#Despite new #synthetic #medicaments #invention, medical plants #substances #extraction is still the important #pharmacological industrial branch. Some serious diseases are really hard to cure without synthetic antibiotics of new generation, but regardless their expansion, medicines produced from plants remain effective. Substances extracted from medical plants are used for production of pills, tinctures, syrups, oils, dry extracts, solutions, liquid and solid extracts, hard capsules, ointments and others. One of the main issues of extraction from medical plants is small yield of biologically active substances, due to which medical raw material overspreading occurs. Extraction can be carried out due to ultrasound, flow turbulence and pulsation, low frequency, electric pulse and magnetic pulse effect, high frequency electromagnetic field influence, electroplasmolysis. Each of the listed approaches gives result, but it can be improved, if you use combination of different physical factors and chemical processes impact on plant material. Such the possibility exists in one of the units – vortex layer device AVS. The vortex layer device consists of consists of an inductor of a rotating electromagnetic field, a working chamber made of non-magnetic material and ferromagnetic particles. When voltage is applied to the inductor winding, ferromagnetic particles begin to move in the working chamber, constantly coming into contact with the walls of the working chamber, with each other and with particles of the processed plant material. Various processes occur in the working chamber, which have a beneficial effect on the extraction of biologically active substances from medicinal plants. Among these processes: ● rotating electromagnetic field; ● magnetostriction; ● acoustic vibrations; ● direct influence of ferromagnetic particles on plant material; ● cavitation; ● electrolysis and others. Complex effect of these factors and phenomena leads to intensive dispersion, mixing and, as a result, extraction of biologically active substances into the extractant. To confirm the efficiency of the vortex layer devices, we conducted an experiment on the extraction of biologically active substances from rose hips. Rosehip fruits were processed in the working chamber of the AVS-100 vortex layer apparatus for 60-180 seconds. It was defined that after processing in the device, the most active extraction of biologically active substances is achieved after one hour of infusion, unlike other processing methods, after which the raw material can be infused for 18-20 hours. Additionally, processing in the vortex layer device allows to increase the yield of biologically active substances by 50%. The use of vortex layer devices for extraction from medicinal plants has the following advantages: ● savings of plant raw materials due to increased output of biologically active substances; ● processes can take place in water or solvent without additional heating. The efficiency of extraction is achieved due to the complete destruction of plant cells to the micron level (less than 1 micron); ● reducing the infusion tenfold duration; ● costs reducing of the obtained product due to the low consumption of electricity by the vortex layer device (the power consumption of one device is no more than 10 kilowatts). The device itself has compact size and is easy to install in the existing technological lines for the extraction of medicinal substances instead of mechanical stirrers, dispersers, cavitators, generators of ultrasonic oscillations, disintegrators. The vortex layer device is capable to replace all the listed devices and to carry out processes of grinding, mixing, сrushing of plant cells, extraction, intensification with the same efficiency.
