10-car San Francisco/Daly City train pulling into North Concord/Martinez Station in Concord, as the heart of the weekday morning commute begins on BART. The San Francisco/Daly City train is a Pittsburg/Bay Point-line special that runs weekday mornings only. Nine (9) of these supplement the usual 15-minute headway between weekday trains headed all the way to San Francisco International Airport (SFO), with only one passing through North Concord/Martinez. Upon termination in Daly City, all nine trains are taken out of service to the maintenance facility behind Colma Station. They're later used for more peak-hour service during weekday evenings back toward this station. San Francisco/Daly City trains had been the only San Francisco-bound destinations on the current Pittsburg/Bay Point-SFO route, from BART's opening in 1972 until its extension of tracks eastward from Concord Station in 1995. North Concord/Martinez sits just over 45 minutes away from San Francisco, and is the second westbound stop for all San Francisco-bound destinations on the Pittsburg/Bay Point-SFO line.
