Solo Travel Australia After leaving Shepparton as a storm rolled in, I pointed the Patrol back toward the Victorian High Country and settled in at a free camp along the Jamieson River. The rain stuck around for most of the afternoon, but things finally cleared the next day, opening the door to exploring some of the most iconic spots in the area. In this episode I visit Craig’s Hut, check out Bindarree Falls, and spend time exploring the High Country before settling in for a quiet night at camp. The next morning I slow things down — making rum balls in preparation for Christmas — before heading out on a long day of 4x4ing toward the King Billy Tree. After around seven hours on the tracks, I find camp for the night and then make my way to Woods Point, scoring a beautiful river camp all to myself on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day I’m up early and begin the drive back toward Melbourne for a planned house sit, stopping along the way to give away the temporary 50L fridge I’d been using — a small Christmas gift after the fridge saga from the previous episode. This is a raw, day-to-day look at solo touring — weather, tracks, quiet moments, and the simple things that make life on the road special.
