I think of this song as being at the top of the folk music singer’s syllabus, it’s quite a chestnut. ⁣ ⁣ Speaking of chestnuts, the weather in Virginia has been stunning this week and fall is really and truly here. I realize ⁣that the pandemic is giving me one positive thing: I get to be here at the farm during the most beautiful month of the year, something that is a rarity as I am usually out on the road during the fall. I’ll take whatever unexpected gifts I can find…⁣ ⁣ *this & that*:⁣ ⁣ looking for a great read? I am loving “Vesper Flights” by Helen Macdonald @emerillon , the author of the incredible “H Is For Hawk” from a few years back. It’s a collection of essays and meditations on wildlife, birds nests, migrations, the push and pull of “time, memory, love and loss and how we make sense of the world around us”…it’s fantastic. ⁣ ⁣ Be sure to watch the Netflix doc “David Attenborough, A Life On Our Planet”, @davidattenborough, it is deeply moving and so important. In these times of climate crisis (why don’t we drop the pretense and stop calling it “climate change”?) we all have to advocate for this “pale blue dot” that is our home. ⁣ ⁣ -aaaaaaand…… it's casserole weather: this week I’m making one of my favorites, “cauliflower maranca” from the wonderful ⁣“Moosewood Cookbook”.
