There are as many model railroad track plans possibilities as there are snowflakes — so how do you get the most out of your layout? It depends on what you want in the first place. Do you want something to simply set up and watch? Are you more interested in making deliveries and pickups? Or maybe you want a self-sustaining loop of switching operations that can just keep going? In this video, using Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019, I showcase a variety of virtual model railroads and explore three theories of layout design: what they mean and how they play out on the train table.
