Having studied with Antonio Lotti, organist at St Mark’s and author of the famous Crucifixus, he struck up a friendship with a fellow pupil, Baldassare Galuppi, whose harpsichord music has already featured on Brilliant Classics (BC95253). The two men wrote operas together in their 20s, before Pescetti impressed London audiences as a harpsichordist. Giambattista Tiepolo was a prominent painter in this period (Italian Rococo) The Catholic theme is consistent as the composer, from Venice, lived in London when writing this, left London when the fighting between Protestants and Catholics escalated, returning to Venice, as organist at St. Mark’s. ---- as featured in Piano Adventures - The Developing Artist Piano Literature Book 4, page 16 Compiled and edited by Nancy and Randall Faber https://pianoadventures.com/product/p...
