Welcome to the Corona Virus Chronicles... Tim is now self-isolating, and presenting his videos directly from his apartment, via a web link. They are based on re-using the old coins, 2 Pfennig coins in fact. These were the old currency, before Germany switched to the Euro. Tim has a prototype, with a bolt through the middle of the coin, and a couple of nuts to hold it in place. Then there are two more advanced versions, with plastic moulded spindles. Then a paperweight for the executive desk. A plastic cube, where some of the sides are transparent. From one direction we see a blue cylinder, rotate it 90 degrees, and it becomes a red cylinder - a lovely optical illusion! Finally, two ways of opening a closed a metal can. First a novelty version - a zip! Then, from the 1930s, a bi-stable lid. Press the middle of the lid, and you hear a click and the edge releases. To seal, squeeze the edge and - click - it closes again. Very neat!
