When Odin sought the wisdom of the ages, he came to Mímir’s well beneath the roots of Yggdrasil. There he sacrificed his own eye, trading sight for knowledge, pain for vision. This song tells that sacred story, sung in Old Norse — a hymn to the price of truth and the burden of foresight. The atmosphere is dark, sacred, and echoing with the sound of prophecy — music born from mist, stone, and divine fire. English Translation [Verse 1] Odin rides alone on Sleipnir’s back, Weary in mind, storm in his track. Yggdrasil’s roots lie deep below, Where Mimir’s well with golden waters flow. Ravens fly across the grey sky, His thoughts are heavy, his heart like iron. [Chorus] I give my eye, for all of wisdom, Blood to the well, word to the call. Mimir, speak, reveal me truth, Let me see what is to come. [Verse 2] There sits Mimir, ancient in thought, He drinks from the horn, of mead and lore. “What seek you, Odin, grim Allfather, For my drink so deep and dark?” Odin spoke, his voice was low, “I give one eye, the light of my soul.” [Chorus] I give my eye, for all of wisdom, Blood to the well, word to the call. Mimir, speak, reveal me truth, Let me see what is to come. [Verse 3] He drew a blade and cut his cheek, A red stream fell upon the stone. Mimir drank, and earth grew still, As the eye sank deep into the well. Then the water turned in endless rings, A mirror of worlds and burning realms. [Bridge] The runes awaken, the wind sings, Yggdrasil creaks, its branches ring. Odin falls into dream and trance, He sees Ragnarök, the fiery dance. He learned the words, he learned the fates, He saw his death and sealed his faith. [Verse 4] He rose from the well, now one eye blind, But vision filled his mind. He saw the wounds, he saw the peace, He saw the heavens set ablaze. Then Mimir spoke, “Now you are blind, But see far more than humankind.” [Final Chorus] He gave his eye, for all of wisdom, Blood to the well, word to the call. Odin, father, noble and scarred, Beheld the world’s end, clear and hard. [Outro] The tree glows, the water red, Words fall silent, time has fled. Odin walks with runes of three, And heaven sings, “Behold, he was.” If you enjoyed this song, please subscribe to @nordicversecraft for more Viking and Old Norse music — it helps me a lot and keeps the ancient spirit alive. #VikingMusic #OldNorse #NordicVersecraft #Odin #NorseMythology #VikingSong #Edda #Yggdrasil #Mimir #ShamanicMusic #AncientNordic #EpicVikingMusic #Runes #OdinSacrifice #MythicMusic #FolkViking #CinematicNordicMusic #ScandinavianMyth #NordicFolk #VikingChant
