From America to Europe to Asia, thousands of street food vendors prepare these cuisines every day on the roadside for you. Watch this documentary to know how they prepare these street foods, and read this to know the history. Chow Mein ___________ Chow mein is a dish of Chinese stir-fried noodles with vegetables and sometimes meat or tofu. Over the centuries, variations of chǎomiàn were developed in many regions of China. It originated in the Cantonese-speaking province of Taishan in southern China, but is now a hugely popular dish in the United States, United Kingdom, and Europe! Buffalo (Chicken) Wings ________________________ A Buffalo wing in American cuisine is an unbreaded chicken wing section that is generally deep-fried, then coated or dipped in a sauce consisting of a vinegar-based cayenne pepper hot sauce and melted butter before serving. Buffalo wings are named after Buffalo, New York, where they were invented in the 1960s. The dish is believed to have been created by Teressa Bellissimo, the owner of the Anchor Bar, to use up excess chicken wings. Although Buffalo Chicken Wings originated in the United States, they are now popular worldwide. Pasta ______ Pasta is a type of food typically made from an unleavened dough of wheat flour mixed with water or eggs, formed into sheets or other shapes, then cooked by boiling or baking. Mayonnaise and various types of sauces are smeared during serving. Pasta is believed to have originated in Italy, with evidence of its existence as early as the fourth century BC. The Etruscan civilization, which flourished in what is now Lazio, Umbria, and Tuscany, made pasta. Pasta became a staple food in Italian cuisine and was widely enjoyed by all classes of society by the 18th century. Chicken Burger _______________ A chicken burger, also referred to as a chicken sandwich in the United States, is a chicken patty served on a hamburger bun with similar condiments and toppings as found on hamburgers. But in the Indian subcontinent, mashed fried chickens are also served instead of chicken patty. The chicken burger originated in the United States, but nowadays it is one of the most popular fast food on this planet! French Fries ____________ French fries, chips, finger chips, french-fried potatoes, or simply fries, are julienne-cut deep-fried potatoes of disputed origin from Belgium or France. They are prepared by cutting potatoes into even strips, drying them, and frying them, usually in a deep fryer. According to one tradition, they first appeared in France, where they were likely a snack sold by street peddlers. However, in more recent years Belgium has been cited as the birthplace. Pizza ______ Pizza is an Italian dish typically consisting of a flat base of leavened wheat-based dough topped with tomato, capsicum, carrot, olives, sauce, cheese, and other ingredients, baked at a high temperature, traditionally in a wood-fired oven. Modern pizza evolved from similar flatbread dishes in Naples, Italy, between the 16th and mid-18th centuries. The word pizza was first documented in 997 AD in Gaeta and successively in different parts of central and southern Italy. Pizza was mainly eaten in Italy and by emigrants from there. Dosa ______ A dosa, dose, or dosha is a thin, savory crepe in South Indian cuisine made from a fermented batter of ground black gram and rice. Dosas are served hot, often with chutney and sambar. Dosas are popular in South India as well as around the world. Luchi ______ Luchi or Lusi or Luchui is a deep-fried flatbread, made of Maida flour. Luchi is especially popular in the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Odisha, West Bengal, Tripura, and the neighboring country Bangladesh.
