In our efforts to further expand our library of educational videos in all sub-categories like glaucoma, we present a case of trabeculotomy in congenital glaucoma. In the picture above, we see the instrument used to probe Schlemm's canal is a trabecuolotome and it has two parallel arms so that as the lower arm is cannulating the canal, the surgeon knows precisely where it is by following the upper arm position. Once it is in the canal, it can be pivoted to open the canal for about 120 degrees to the left and then 120 degrees to the right. Our guest surgeon does something even more clever by using a polypropylene suture to thread all 360 degrees and then perform a complete trabeculotomy. Brilliant.
